Tasmanian Regional Arts administers the Regional Arts Fund (RAF); providing grants to individuals and groups in Tasmania. The RAF has already provided more than half a million dollars to regional arts across the state and we are excited to be part of nurturing such a diverse and valuable arts community. Many of those recipients were young people.
The RAF is an Australian Government program that supports sustainable cultural development and has an emphasis on young people, disadvantaged, remote, very remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The funding is targeted toward activities that will have long-term cultural, economic and social benefits for communities and individuals. These benefits may include, the development of partnerships and cultural networks, professional development and employment opportunities for artists. It may also include support for arts and community development projects that enable everyone in local communities the opportunity to participate and access cultural activities.
